Suzuki GSX R1000 is one of the oldest bike series in the world. The 2013 GSX R1000 is once again came out with extraordinary throttle response, power output, fuel efficiency, etc. Bike has amazing accelerating and braking capabilities by which it quickly responds to the rider's command to the vehicle. GSX R1000 uses brembo brakes, which are lightweight brakes with superior braking effort. The vehicle has been so designed that it can be easily maneuvers to any position, ideal for sporting utilities.
Engine: Suzuki GSX R1000 is powered by 999cc, 4 cylinder power plant. Has extra ordinary throttle response over the entire rpm range, and extreme race road performance characteristics. This is because of
the Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve(SDTV) system, which has two butterfly valves. One of the butterfly valve is the primary valve and the other one is secondary valve. The primary valve is connected to the accelerator and secondary valve is automatically operated by ECM (Engine Management Module), which improves the throttle response. The ECM considers various parameters from like primary valve position, engine speed, gear position and operates the secondary throttle valve.
Suzuki GSX R1000 also has 12 hole fuel injector, which makes the fuel fine mist during injection into the
cylinder hence ensuring complete combustion and reduced harmful gases emission. Each cylinder has pentagonal shaped holes at the bottom to vent the blow-by gases in the crankcase, which reduces the pumping losses because of the resistance provided by the gases during the downward stroke of the piston. Iridium spark plugs are used to produce powerful spark for the efficient combustion of the air-fuel mixture.
Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material, is a special type of material developed by suzuki is used to enhance the heat transfer, durability and ring seal in the cylinders. Also, engine is compact enables the length of the vehicle to be shorter and hence more sportier. Liquid cooled engine delivers 160 Bhp of peak power at 9500 rpm and peak torque of 110 Nm at 8500 rpm.
GSX R100 also has another special feature called Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, which enables the rider to choose one of the three option so that the power output for the given accelerator position changes. Thus the power from the engine can be suited according to the rider's need. This can be done by just pressing a button on the left handlebar.
Chassis and Stylings: GSX R1000 has light weight twin spar Nimble Chassis. The frame is made up of five cast pieces and the swing arm three individual casting and single piece die cast sub frame. Special type of front forks are used which is fully adjustable according to the riders suspension requirements. This front fork
is called as Showa Big Piston Front Fork, which is highly suitable for track racing because of its good feedback and lightweightness. Rear shock absorber has adjustable spring preload and rebound damping characteristics. It has both low speed and high speed damping. Electronically controlled steering dampers enhances the comfortness riding at off-road conditions. The damping force is increased at higher speed and deceased at lower speeds.
Acceleration and Performance: GSX R1000 weighs 203 Kgs, which makes this machine to have very high specific power or power to weight ratio. Bike has excellent throttle response and its takes only three seconds to reach 100 Km/hr speed from standstill. Has six speed manual transmission and gear shift is quick and smooth for quick gear changes. Bike is capable of crossing 250 Km/hr speed very easily, and it can run at all gear ratios. Mileage of this super bike is around 15 Kmpl.
GSX R1000 has radial mount brembo monobloc disc brakes, which is an high performance disc brake highly suited for racing vehicles. Well cushioned padded seat provides comfortable seating but gives a little discomfort during long journeys. Front and rear suspension systems are fully adjustable according to the comfort needs of the rider. Wider body, adjustable suspension, electronic steering damper makes the bike to have excellent riding and handling characteristics.
Instrument cluster comprises of silver ringed analogue tachometer with LCD speedometer. Also equipped with odometer, dual trip meter, reserve trip meter, clock, coolant and oil temperature meter, gear position indicator, S-DMS setting, brightness screen brightness control options, in the instrument cluster.
GSX R1000 is priced around 15 lakhs (INR, ex-showroom). Bike is highly priced, for the comfortness and performance, but bike enthusiast would like this to enjoy the flying bike experience.
