Yamaha unveiled the Vixion 2013 in the Jakarta Motorcycle show. Shortly, vixion is naked version of yamaha r15 but the engine of vixion is slightly underperforming compared to yamaha r15. The engine has same features of the r15 model, SOHC, liquid cooled engine and also the same transmission system. The peak power is slightly lower of 15 Bhp at 8500 rpm and 13.1 Nm peak torque at 7500 rpm.
Also vixion 2013 has diasil cylinder (die cast aluminium cylinder) and forged piston for better performance. Vixion has all new Electronic Control System (ECU) with 33 pin diagnostic port for better error analysis. Overflow control aperture in the fuel injection pump is another advantage in the bike. The rear tyre in vixion is a little wider than r15 which helps in better traction but it makes the bike heavier. Rear disc brake with box type swing arm suspension is another notable feature in this vixion model.
From the engine point of view itself, the bike is underperforming compared to r15, and this may not be good bike in india because r15 is available in india in almost at the same price. And the company is also not willing to launch this bike outside indonesia. In indonesian rupiah, bike cost around 1.2 lakhs.
