Volvo FMX Truck

Volvo FMX is a tipper truck with Gross vehicle weight of 31 tonnes powered by 440 HP D13A engine. The huge power delivery can handle demanding works at mining and construction work sites. The vehicle is designed to run on full load even on slippery road conditions. Engine has excellent torque delivery capacity at low rpm suitable for carrying heavy load in rugged road conditions.

Volvo FMX also has Exhaust braking System in which the exhaust manifold will be closed on applying the brake, so that the piston compresses the exhaust gases hence slowing down the engine. This exhaust brake assist the service brakes and increases the life of the service brake linings. This system is also helpful on driving in downhill gradients, so that extra brakes efforts will be available.

FMX has splitter type, 14-speed, servo synchromesh gearbox. This gear box system provide wide span of gear ratio with huge starting torque and smooth acceleration. Close gear ratios enables the truck to climp up easily. FMX has heavy duty tandem hub axle, with has huge gear reduction at the hub, so that stresses on the driveshaft and the crown pinion would be minimal.  

FMX also provides better work and drive comfort. It has good cab interior design with ergonomic considerations. The chassis is the backbone of a truck, since it has to withstand all the static and dynamic loads in every day basis. The frame is broad, rigid and has high torsional strength. The side member and the cross members of the frame a
re U shaped, giving providing high strength at low dead weight of the vehicle.The steel fuel tank can hold 570 litres of fuel. The entire length of the frame is provided with suitable attachments so that unnecessary holes need not to be drilled in it.

FMX has Z-cam brake system which has better brake efficiency and uniform wear of the shoes. The brake shoes does not have fixed point with the backing plate and hence it can adjust itself according to the wear in the shoes. The vehicle is fitted with blind spot mirror in the co-driver side to aid the driver on the blind spot areas on the front of the vehicle.
