Hero Xtreme

Xtreme is one of the popular 150cc bikes in india. Hero Xtreme is the new version of CBZ Xtreme which was launched in 1999 as Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme. After the split between hero and honda now the bike has been launched as Hero Xtreme. Hero has replaced its older version with this newer model with some design enhancement. Xtreme is priced at Rs.75,000 (On-road) and around 65K ex-showroom.

Engine: Xtreme is powered  by 149.2cc, air cooled OHC (Over Head Camshaft) engine. Peak power of the engine is about 10.6 KW at 8500 rpm and peak torque is 12.8 Nm at 6500 rpm. Xtreme has Advanced Microprocessor Ignition System by which the petrol is ignited under controlled conditions in order to ensure higher power and mileage and lesser engine parts wear. Both self and kick starting options are available.

Transmission: Xtreme has five speed manual gear box. The fifth gear is the overdrive by which the vehicle is made to run more than the speed of the engine. Gear box is of usual constant mesh type. Has multi-plate wet clutch and chain drive system. Gear shift pattern is 1-down, 2,3,4,5 - all up.

Body and Stylings: Xtreme has tubular diamond type frame which is normally used in sportier bikes. The body looks more aerodynamic and rugged which gives the sportier look to it. The step down seat and fuel tank are designed to attract the youth in particular. Xtreme has trapezoidal multi-reflector type head lamp with halogen bulb and LED tail lamp. Unique alloy wheel having parallel spokes and exhaust tail pipe is black coloured and mate finished looks catchy. Xtreme has 12 litres fuel tank capacity with 1.5 litre reserve.

Brakes and Suspension: Front wheel has 240mm dia disc brake and the rear has drum with optional disc brake. Front suspension is telescopic type which has water inside as the working fluid. Rear has five step gas reservoir suspension. The reservoir ensures the presence of excess fluid inside for better vibration attenuation.

Dashboard: Xtreme has digital-analog dashboard system with side stand warning light. If the side stand is not position properly the light glows indicating the stand has to be positioned properly to ride. It has digital tripmeter and analog fuel gauge. The dashboard has updated features and styles compared to the previous version.

Top Speed and Mileage: Xtreme rides at the maximum speed upto 120 Kmph with fuel economy (mileage) of 60 Kmpl. Both the speed and mileage performance of the bike looks impressive and surely the bike is not a petrol guster. Xtreme accelerates from 0 to 60 Kmph speed in just 5.5 seconds proves that the bike is truly sportier.

Colours: Xtreme comes out with five different colours,

Blue
Orange
Red
White
Black

Important Features:

Engine Immobilizer- This feature of the bike makes it theft proof, because the engine starts only when the right key is inserted. The engine will not start other identical keys.

Mobile Charger - Under Seat mobile charger is attractive feature in Xtreme. Under the seat a mobile charger port is available so that mobile can charged by the bike itself.

Wider Rear Tyre - Rear tyre is made wider to enhance the grip with the road to maintain better traction and braking.

On the Whole: Value for money and power for fuel.
